Ascension on Wax is a Berlin-based house music label focused on collaboration with visual artists and dance music producers. Working with contemporary producers who are influenced by the jazzy and soulful sound that flourished in the 90s US East Coast scene, AoW’s music is true to the roots of house music.

Run by two best friends Max Logsdail and Lavan Mcnaughton, the foundations of AoW were the Berlin Ascension parties starting in 2019, adding more of a jazz and soul flavour to techno-heavy Berlin.

AoW releases limited vinyl pressings with beautiful artworks incorporated into the classic gatefold format, alongside the label’s standard DJ releases.

The name Ascension is a homage to John Coltrane’s ground-breaking 1966 free jazz album. It honours jazz’s place in the formation of house music, and the jazzy deep house sound.
