D'angelo

Michael Eugene Archer aka ‘D’Angelo’ was born in Virginia in the U.S.A and began playing the piano at age of 3. His music career took shape as a teenager when he performed with a number of groups including a band with his cousins called ‘Michael Archer and Precise.’ In 1991 he had a big breakthrough. That year he won the Amateur Night at the Apollo Theatre in New York City and was also signed to record label EMI. Up until last year this superstar had only released 2 albums, both of which are killer R&B works that might just melt your heart away when you listen to them. Archer has one of the most outstanding and dynamic voices you are ever likely to come across and his most recent album Black Messiah is proof that this R&B genius has many great albums to come if that is what he desires. Shortly after the release of his second album Voodoo Archer developed an eating disorder which put a halt on his solo career which explains why there was a 14 year gap between his second and third albums. ‘Feel Like Makin’ Love’ is one of my favourite tracks off Voodoowhich was released in 2000. The track is sexy beyond belief, with an outstanding vocal performance on it. The subtle mixing of horns and backing vocals on the song, and which are present throughout the album, is testament to how fantastic Archer is as both a musician and producer.
