In 2015, the famous dance music label Nervous Records released an absolutely phenomenal record. Let’s Do It (A Louie Vega Remixes) has two remixes of the classic underground 80’s club hit ‘Let’s Do It’ by the disco-funk band Convertion. In particular, the ‘Let’s Do It (Louie Vega Dance Ritual Mix)’ A side is very special indeed; the world famous 90’s Puerto Rican House Music producer Luis Fernando Vega (“Little” Louie Vega) has remixed the track so it is almost unrecognisable from the original. This is not to say that the A side remix is better or worse than the 1980 release of the track, it is just refreshingly different. The song is just as catchy, but has been made more into a smooth, feel good boogie inspired house track.

Convertion was a project that was producing pretty out there ‘boogie’ tracks in the early 1980’s and they had a couple of successful songs that were a hit on the dance floor at the time. Leroy Burgess was the brains behind the band and ,much like Nile Rogers of Chic, was relatively unknown to the average music fan until only recently. This is surprising too as he has worked closely with the funk band Change and number of superstars including Ben E King and Jocelyn Brown. Convertion only released a small repertoire of songs due to legal issues that arose with the band name and so Burgess renamed the project Logg. In fact, the only complete album by Logg was originally meant to be a Convertion album; it is a boogie sensation and a must listen to for any disco-funk fans out there.
